Opening Project Manager - R&D / Preclinical
Baseimmune is a discovery stage biotechnology start-up focused on revolutionising vaccines through advanced computational antigen design. Founded by the team that pioneered computational vaccines at the Jenner Institute University of Oxford, our mission is to harness the fields of data science, machine learning and computational biology within a multi-disciplinary team to redefine cross-protective and mutation-proof vaccines.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Manager to join the R&D team at Baseimmune and be a core member of R&D operations workflows and vaccine discovery and development. This is an office-based role that requires a combination of scientific and managerial expertise in the field of vaccine R&D. The role offers the opportunity to work in an innovative and fast-paced research environment, in a growing biotechnology company, where your contributions will directly impact and shape the development of groundbreaking vaccines.

R&D, Translational Research Team
- Oversee and manage cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of project milestones in vaccine discovery and design.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate detailed project plans, timelines, and progress reports.
- Facilitate regular team meetings, ensuring clear communication and alignment of goals.
- Work closely with scientific, technical, and operational teams to streamline workflows.
- Coordinate with external collaborators, partners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful execution of joint initiatives.
- Manage project budgets, tracking expenses and aligning resources to priorities.
- Support Team Leads to manage capacity and priorities.
- Work closely with the Senior Management and C-Suite to ensure collaborative team communication solutions and facilitate meetings.
- Prepare independent periodic reports (e.g. monthly reports tracking timing and budget relative to plan, programme milestones) with awareness of impact of delivering key milestones on time and within budget.
- Provide executive support to the CSO with meeting organization and coordination of projects.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Immunology) or Project Management.
- 2-5+ years of project management experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries, preferably in discovery or early-stage research.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Trello) and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
- Strong understanding of drug/vaccine discovery processes and timelines.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- PMP certification or equivalent is a plus but not mandatory.
